The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has opened three new substations with a conversion capacity of 450 megavolt-amperes (MVA), in addition to 132kV ground cables, which are more than 35 kilometers in length and are connected to the main transmission network.
The commissioning of the substation is part of DEWA's efforts to provide electricity and water services in accordance with the highest standards of availability, reliability and efficiency. The total cost of these projects exceeds $117 million. These substations will be commissioned in May and June 2021 and will provide power to Al Barsha 1, Mirdif and Wadi Al Safa 2. The completion of these substations requires 4 million safe man-hours to use world-class technology to ensure the highest level of safety and security.
"The new substation is part of Dewa's efforts to improve the capacity, efficiency and readiness of Dubai's transmission network to meet the future needs of customers, developers and the commercial sector, while using the latest smart technology to provide convenient profits. Technology," DEWA, MD Said Mohamed Al Thayer, and CEO.
"This supports Dewa's efforts to achieve the digital transformation of all its operations and services. Our total investment in power transmission is 8.8 billion dirhams, of which 2 billion dirhams will be used for key 400kV transmission projects and 6.8 billion dirhams will be used for 132kV Project," he added.
