On the morning of September 29, 2021, the groundbreaking activity of Jinan Rail Transit Line 6 was held in the North Square of Jinan Railway Station.

It is understood that Jinan Rail Transit Line 6 has a total length of 40.1km and a total of 33 stations, all of which are underground. The line starts from the west side of Shandong First Medical University in the west, mainly along Medical Avenue, the central axis of Jinan West Railway Station, Jingyi Road, Daminghu Road, Shanda South Road, Xinluo Street, Fenghuang Road, Shuncheng Avenue, and east to Liangwangdong Station. A field and a base are set up at both ends, namely Weilizhuang Depot and Liangwang Vehicle Base.

Jinan Rail Transit Line 6 is an east-west backbone line that runs through the main urban area, passing through Jinan City’s Huaiyin District, Tianqiao District, Lixia District, High-tech District and Licheng District, connecting with Jinan West Railway Station, Jinan Railway Station and Jinan East Railway Station. The transportation hub connects large-scale passenger flow distribution points and key development areas such as the International Medical Science Center, International Financial City, High-tech Industrial Park, Jinan Free Trade Pilot Zone, and Provincial Enterprise Headquarters City.
