The continuous extension of the transportation network in the Bay Area constantly narrows the distance between cities. As an important transportation infrastructure project in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, the construction difficulty of the Shenjiang Railway is extremely high, with a high proportion of bridges and tunnels along the entire line. Water construction is also a major challenge. The construction team is rooted in the front line to overcome difficulties and tackle multiple challenging construction problems in the industry. With the successful topping out of the double main towers of the cable-stayed bridge spanning the Tiger Leaping Gate waterway of the Guangzhong River Grand Bridge, the construction of all five main towers of the cable-stayed bridge along the entire line has been completed, marking a new stage in the construction of this key high-speed railway channel in the bay area.

Engineering difficulties highlighted

On June 12, 2025, the final concrete pouring of the Guangzhong River Extra Large Bridge over the Tiger Leaping Gate Waterway Cable stayed Bridge was completed, and the double main towers were successfully topped out, helping to achieve breakthrough progress in the construction of the Shenjiang Railway. The main line of Shenjiang Railway is 116 kilometers long, with bridges and tunnels accounting for as much as 98%. Among them, China Railway 25th Bureau is responsible for the construction of Section 12, which includes 13.41 kilometers of main line, Jiangmen evacuation line, dynamic track and storage yard station front engineering, and also undertakes the task of 546 hole box girder erection and track laying for the entire line.

The cable-stayed bridge that has been capped this time is a key and difficult project along the entire line, with a total length of about 590 meters and a main span of 300 meters. The two main towers adopt an H-shaped design, with a height of 140 meters and a total concrete pouring volume of 18000 cubic meters. The bridge site is located in class I waterway, with nearly 300 daily navigable vessels. It is difficult to control construction safety and strict technical standards.

Breaking through bottlenecks and overcoming difficulties

Faced with complex hydrological, shipping, and geological conditions, the project team focused on the construction pain points and carried out special technical breakthroughs, successfully overcoming multiple key construction difficulties such as the first domestic deep-water bare rock large-span bridge foundation non blasting excavation and double wall steel cofferdam launching, effectively avoiding the construction risks of the waterway and ensuring the safe and efficient progress of the project. After the completion of the double main tower topping out operation, the bridge project will officially enter the subsequent construction stage of side span steel beam erection and inclined cable installation, which will open up key nodes for the subsequent track laying and opening to traffic.Keywords: Shenjiang Railway, Bridge Capping, Engineering Information

Rongwan accelerates and increases efficiency

The Shenjiang Railway is a core component of the national eight vertical and eight horizontal high-speed railway network along the coast, and also a key transportation link connecting bay area cities such as Shenzhen and Jiangmen.
