On the afternoon of April 27, 2022, the Department of Commerce of Gansu Province and the Department of International Trade Promotion of the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand signed a memorandum of understanding on trade cooperation online. The two sides expressed that they will further utilize platforms such as China Lanzhou Investment and Trade Fair, China (Gansu) Traditional Chinese Medicine Industry Expo, Thailand International Food Exhibition, and online trade matchmaking meetings between the two sides to deepen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, culture, and traditional Chinese medicine.
In recent years, the economic and trade exchanges between Gansu and Thailand have become increasingly close. Data from the Gansu Provincial Department of Commerce shows that in 2021, the import and export trade volume between the two sides will exceed 200 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 20%. Gansu actively responds to the Belt and Road Initiative and continues to expand its inland opening.
