On April 14, 2023, the Haining section of the Hangzhou Airport High-speed Rail Project officially started construction.

It is understood that the total length of the Hangzhou Airport High-speed Railway Project is about 85 kilometers, starting from Tongxiang City, Jiaxing City in the north, and reaching Keqiao District, Shaoxing City in the south, passing through Haining City, Qiantang District, Xiaoshan District and other counties in Jiaxing City, and passing through 3 cities and 5 cities in Zhejiang Province. district (county). Among them, the main line is about 72 kilometers long, and the connecting line from Xiaoshan Airport to Hangzhou South Railway Station is about 13 kilometers long. Haining South Station, Qiantang Station, Xiaoshan Airport Station will be newly established on the whole line, and Tongxiang Station will be rebuilt and expanded to connect to Shaoxing North Station. The total investment is about 383 100 million yuan, led by Hangzhou Communications Investment Group, with a planned construction period of 4 years.

Qiantang River Tunnel

Among them, Qiantang River Tunnel is the whole line control project. According to Fang Zhongyu, project leader of the China Railway 14th Bureau, the tunnel is the first high-speed rail Qiantang River crossing tunnel in Zhejiang Province, with a total length of 5,328 meters, of which the shield section is 3,704 meters long and the open-cut section is 1,624 meters long. The tunnel is a single-hole, double-lane tunnel, with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. The shield has an outer diameter of 14.3 meters and an inner diameter of 13.1 meters. A super-large-diameter mud-water balance shield machine with an excavation diameter of 14.9 meters was used for construction.

The north end of the Hangzhou Airport High Speed Railway is connected to the planned Shanghai-Chak-Hangzhou Railway at Tongxiang Station, the south end is connected to the Hangzhou-Ningbo High-speed Railway and the Hangzhou-Taiwan High-speed Railway at Shaoxing North Station, and the Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway and the Hangzhou-Huangzhou High-speed Railway are connected to Hangzhou South Station through the connecting line in downtown Hangzhou. It is an important project to build the overall layout of one axis and two wings of the Hangzhou railway hub, improve the capacity of the railway crossing the river, realize the introduction of high-speed rail into Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, and build an air-rail combined transport system. After the completion and operation of the Hangzhou Airport High-Speed Railway, it will realize the rapid exchange of passengers from Hangzhou, Shaoxing, Taizhou and other places with Shanghai, southern Jiangsu, and southern Anhui, and enhance the status and comprehensive capabilities of Hangzhou's railway hub. In the future, passengers departing from Xiaoshan Airport are expected to take the high-speed rail to Taizhou, Jinhua, Huangshan and other places, and they can also conveniently travel to and from Shanghai, Suxichang and other core cities in the Yangtze River Delta.
