Recently, Tunnel Urban Construction International received a notification from the Public Construction Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region that the joint venture formed by Tunnel Urban Construction International and China State Construction International successfully won the bid for the design and construction project of the southern section of the Eastern Line of the Macau Light Rail Transit, with a total contract value of approximately 4.087 billion yuan. This project achieved three firsts:
The first large-diameter cross-sea shield tunnel project in Macao SAR;
Tunnel's first rail transit project in Macau;
It is the general contracting project with the largest contract value of Tunnel Co., Ltd. in Macau.
Project Overview
The total length of the Eastern Line of the Macau Light Rail Transit is about 7.7 kilometers, with a total of 6 stations, which will connect the Border Gate, Metro Area A, Metro Area E and the existing Taipa Ferry Terminal Station. The project is divided into two sections, the south and the north. Among them, the southern section undertaken by the consortium is about 4.8 kilometers long. It mainly constructs 3 underground stations, 2 open-cut tunnels, 1 single-hole cross-sea shield tunnel and 1 section viaduct.
After the completion of the Eastern Line of the Macau Light Rail Transit, it will connect the three important ports of Macau sea, land and air.
