On September 29, 2024, Huaneng Northeast Branch announced that its Zhuanghe Offshore Wind Power IV2 project, located in the eastern sea area of Shicheng City, Zhuanghe, Dalian, has successfully achieved full capacity grid connected power generation. This milestone achievement marks the official entry of Liaoning region into a new era of affordable offshore green electricity.

The total installed capacity of the project reaches 200 megawatts, equipped with 25 advanced 8-megawatt wind turbines. After grid connection, it will join hands with the Zhuanghe II and IV1 projects to jointly form the largest offshore wind power cluster in Liaoning Province, with a total installed capacity of up to 850 megawatts.

It is estimated that the annual on grid electricity of Zhuanghe Offshore Wind Power IV2 Project will reach 630 million kilowatt hours, which is enough to meet the basic electricity needs of 500000 households for one year. Compared with coal-fired power plants of the same scale, this project can save about 191000 tons of standard coal annually and reduce 2.26 million tons of pollutant emissions, demonstrating significant economic and ecological benefits.

As of now, the total installed capacity of the Zhuanghe offshore wind power project has climbed to 1.25 million kilowatts, becoming a crucial offshore wind power base in northern China. The annual power generation of this base exceeds 3.3 billion kilowatt hours, injecting strong impetus into the energy structure transformation and green development of the region and even the whole country.

The achievement of Huaneng Northeast Branch not only demonstrates its leading position in the field of new energy, but also sets a new benchmark for the development of offshore wind power in Liaoning and even the entire northern region of China. With the continuous advancement and expansion of offshore wind power technology, we have reason to believe that a new era of greener and low-carbon energy is accelerating.
