On August 2, 2025, the winning bid results of the construction and installation project of the Wayaoping 35kV construction substation and power supply line of the Three Gorges New Water Transport Corridor Project were officially announced, and China Water Conservancy and Hydropower Fourth Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the "China Hydropower Fourth Bureau") With a quotation of 27.9832 million yuan, it successfully won the bid, beating China Gezhouba Group Electric Power Co., Ltd. (quotation 29.5019 million yuan) and Wuhan Hanyuan Jiji Electric Power Co., Ltd. (quotation 28.9933 million yuan), becoming the first construction bid contractor in the preparatory period of this 10-billion-level water conservancy hub project.

New Three Gorges Water Transport Corridor: 76.6 billion super project to solve the bottleneck of Yangtze River shipping

The Three Gorges Water Transport New Corridor project has a static total investment of 76.6 billion yuan and a total construction period of 100 months, including two parts: the Three Gorges Hub New Corridor Project and the Gezhouba Shipping Expansion Project. The project will build a new waterway of more than 6,000 meters on the north side of the existing Three Gorges Lock, using a double-line continuous five-stage lock scheme, and designed to pass 10,000-ton ships to alleviate the congestion problem of long-term overload operation of the Three Gorges Lock. The Gezhouba shipping capacity expansion project plans to demolish the existing 3,000-ton No. 3 lock and build two new lines of 10,000-ton locks to comprehensively improve the navigability of the Yangtze River's golden waterway7.

Investment in water conservancy infrastructure continues to increase, and the scale may reach 1.5 trillion yuan in 2025

In recent years, the scale of investment in our country's water conservancy construction has continued to rise, exceeding one trillion yuan (1,089.3 billion yuan) for the first time in 2022, reaching 1,199.6 billion yuan in 2023, and further increasing to 1,352.9 billion yuan in 2024.
