The Yining Aksu Railway, as a major strategic project included in the national medium and long-term railway network planning and the 14th Five Year Plan railway planning, has extraordinary significance. On May 30th of this year, its feasibility study report was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, with an estimated project investment of 37.7 billion yuan.

The newly-built section of the railway follows the national railway level I and single track standards, with a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour. However, the speed of the Nalati Mountain and Huola Mountain crossing sections is 120 kilometers per hour. In terms of construction period, the section from Buleikai to Nalati will take 3 years, while the section from Nalati to Kutaike will take 6.5 years.
From the perspective of road network connection, it connects the Jingyihuo Line and the Nanjiang Line, and is a key component of the western border railway corridor. This railway directly connects the northern and southern regions of Xinjiang, forming a convenient railway transportation channel that eliminates the need to detour through Turpan, greatly improving regional transportation efficiency.
The construction of the DK269+668-DK300+000 section of the new Yining Aksu Railway has been approved for construction in accordance with the "Reply of the National Development and Reform Commission on the Feasibility Study Report of the New Yining Aksu Railway" (NDRC Foundation [2025] No. 643), and the construction unit is China Railway Wulumuqi Group Co., Ltd. The line starts from Yining Station of the existing Jinghuo Railway and runs eastward to connect with Buleikai Station using the Jinghuo Railway. The newly built line crosses the Tianshan Mountains after passing through Gongliu and Xinyuan, and connects to Kutaike Station of the existing Ku'eo Railway. Then, the existing Ku'eo Railway is utilized and rebuilt to connect to the Southern Xinjiang Railway, and finally reaches Aksu Station using the Southern Xinjiang Railway. The total length of the line is 794 kilometers, including 455 kilometers of the newly built section from Buleikai to Kutaiklik, utilizing 42 kilometers of the Jinghuo Railway, 69 kilometers of the Ku'er-Russian Railway, and 228 kilometers of the Southern Xinjiang Railway.
In terms of supporting construction, a 2.3-kilometer connecting line will be built simultaneously in the direction of Jinghe at the Burie Station and this line; Implement the electrification renovation of 69 kilometers of the Kursk railway, and renovate its track, communication signal and other infrastructure according to the design speed of 120 kilometers per hour; Adaptive renovation of four stations including Kizilya; Supporting the renovation of locomotive and vehicle facilities in Yining and Kuche areas. A total of 31 stations will be built in the new section from Buleikai to Kutaike, with an initial opening of 20 stations.

The entrance of Bayinbrook Tunnel to Bayinbrook Station covers a mileage range of DK269+668 to DK300+000, with a total length of 23.97km. Among them, Bayinbrook Tunnel is 14.482km long, accounting for 60.4%. It includes three stations: Bayinbrook, Alxian, and reserved Lardon (partially). The station supporting engineering includes multiple contents such as tunnel structure engineering (excluding tunnel decoration engineering and passenger platform surface). Keywords: high-speed engineering, high-speed construction
The project is scheduled to commence on September 30, 2025 and be completed on October 24, 2030. This bidding includes one section, with section number SX. China Railway Tunnel Group Co., Ltd. won the bid with a evaluated bid price of 1674748667 yuan.Editor/Cheng Liting
