Recently, the key embankment treatment project in Poyang Lake area of Jiangxi Province has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission, marking the substantial promotion stage of the flood control system capacity improvement in the region. The total investment of this project is about 6.85 billion yuan, with a total length of 1705 kilometers of embankment treatment, covering 7 prefecture level cities including Nanchang and Jiujiang. It is a key measure to ensure flood control safety in Poyang Lake and the tail of the Five Rivers.

1、 Project approval: Investment of 6.85 billion yuan, total construction period of 60 months

According to the Jiangxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission on December 15th, the National Development and Reform Commission has officially approved the feasibility study report of the key embankment treatment project in Poyang Lake area, Jiangxi Province (NDRC Agricultural Economics [2025] No. 1560), with a total approved investment of 6.85169 billion yuan. The main construction content of the project includes raising and thickening the embankment, building and repairing slope protection, implementing anti-seepage measures for the embankment body, etc. The total planned construction period is 60 months. At this year's National Water Resources Work Conference, Minister of Water Resources Li Guoying explicitly requested the implementation of key embankment reinforcement in Poyang Lake. This approval can be seen as a concrete implementation of this deployment.

2、 Survey and design bidding has started, with a controlled price of approximately 168 million yuan

Following the approval of the feasibility study, the preliminary work of the project quickly began. On December 18th, the bidding announcement for the survey and design project of the key embankment treatment project in Poyang Lake District, Jiangxi Province was officially released. The bidder is the Key Embankment Treatment Project Department of Poyang Lake District, Jiangxi Province, with a bidding control price set at 167.69531 million yuan (approximately 168 million yuan). The scope of this bidding covers the entire stage of survey and design work, including preliminary design, bidding design, construction drawing design, as well as design services during the construction period. The construction site of the project involves 22 counties (cities, districts) in 7 prefecture level cities within Jiangxi Province. The project task is to comprehensively manage the key embankments in the lake area, and through a series of engineering measures such as embankment reinforcement, slope protection, anti-seepage treatment, renovation of buildings passing through the embankments, and ant pest control, the regional flood control capacity will be systematically improved.
