According to the Provincial Forestry and Grassland Bureau, since 2026, Hebei has been advancing the Three North Project Quality Campaign, achieving a good start in afforestation and greening, and continuously consolidating and solidifying the ecological security barrier in the Beijing Tianjin Hebei region.

Since the comprehensive launch of the Three North Project in June 2023, as of the end of April 2026, Hebei has completed a total of 13.97 million mu of construction tasks, winning the battle to annihilate the sandy land on the southern edge of Hunshandake, and basically completing the treatment of desertified land in the province. By 2025, the National Three North Project will have completed afforestation and grass planting of over 66 million mu, with Hebei Province completing over 3.8 million mu, ranking among the top provinces in northern China. At present, the forest coverage rate in Hebei has reached 35%, and the comprehensive vegetation coverage of grasslands has remained stable at over 73%, with an increasingly solid ecological background.

Adapt to local conditions and bloom at multiple locations

Under the overall deployment of the province, various regions have implemented precise policies based on ecological endowments. Zhangjiakou City has established a daily statistics, weekly reporting, and monthly scheduling mechanism, formed guidance service teams to go down to the front line, and made every effort to accelerate engineering construction. Chengde City closely adheres to the core task of water source conservation, anchors the goals of ecological construction, ecological protection, and ecological utilization, and promotes large-scale national greening. Tangshan City focuses on consolidating achievements, promoting the construction of farmland forest networks, and synchronously improving the greening around villages, towns, factories, and enterprises. Langfang City continues to optimize the tree species structure and vigorously promotes local and precious tree species. Handan City coordinates artificial afforestation, mountain closure for afforestation, and restoration of degraded forests, scientifically creating an ecological and economic forest with a mixture of coniferous and broad-leaved trees and shrubs.

Although different regions have different focuses, they all closely adhere to the requirements of integrated protection of mountains, waters, forests, fields, lakes, grasses, and sands. They work together to increase greenery, improve quality and efficiency, innovate mechanisms, and empower industries, forming a governance pattern of comprehensive linkage and joint construction.

Quality is king, closed-loop supervision

During the progress of the project, Hebei has always adhered to the bottom line of quality and improved the entire chain quality supervision system. In 2026, the province will strictly control the entire process of planning, land preparation, planting, and management, arrange technical personnel to work with them throughout the entire process, closely monitor key construction links, implement closed-loop supervision, and strictly prevent problems such as cutting corners and using inferior materials.
