On the Minya Plain by the Nile River, a grand project to empower agricultural modernization with electricity has officially begun. Recently, the Egyptian Rural Development Corporation has teamed up with the power transmission department to launch a power grid expansion project covering 3 million hectares of land. This is not only an upgrade of infrastructure, but also a strategic action for Egypt to promote agricultural revitalization and ensure food security. From lighting up the land to lighting up the rural economy, a development path paved by electricity is slowly unfolding in Upper Egypt.

Project scale and stage planning
The project is planned to be constructed in two phases, with a total investment of up to 25 billion Egyptian pounds. The first phase of the project covers the southwestern part of West Minya, the western extension area of Minya, as well as the West Manfarut and Kushia regions, with an installed capacity of 100 megavolt amperes. The second phase of the project will extend to Darb Behnasavi, Simina, and the northwest of Simina, ultimately achieving a total capacity of approximately 500 megavolt amperes and providing stable electricity to 1.5 million fedas of land in the Simina Plain. The project also hired Egyptian Electric Power System Engineering Company (EPS) as the technical consultant to ensure that the design and implementation comply with international standards.
Electricity empowers agricultural modernization
Electricity supply is regarded as a core element for achieving modern agriculture. After the completion of the project, it will directly support agricultural irrigation, cold chain storage, agricultural product processing and other links, improving agricultural production efficiency. In addition, stable electricity will attract agricultural investors, promote intensive land use, and facilitate the improvement of the agricultural industry chain. The project leader emphasized that electricity is not only infrastructure, but also the key to creating a comprehensive environment for agriculture and food production.
