This symposium is another important docking after the talks between the two sides in Lhasa in August 2025. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on issues such as strengthening talent exchanges and jointly promoting the hydropower channel project in the upper reaches of the Lancang River in Xizang into Chongqing. This is not only a deepening of cooperation between enterprises in the two regions, but also a concrete implementation of the strategic cooperation framework agreements signed by the governments of Tibet and Chongqing in 2022 and 2024, aiming to work together to turn the key cooperation issue of "Tibetan electricity entering Chongqing" from blueprint to reality.

Comprehensive potential recognized by multiple parties

The planned "Tibetan Electricity to Chongqing" project mainly transmits electricity from the upstream hydropower base of the Lancang River to Chongqing. After years of verification, this channel has demonstrated significant comprehensive advantages in matching transmission and reception ends, resource development potential, Chongqing's consumption capacity, electricity price tolerance level, and transmission technology path. The project has not only received support from power grid enterprises and power development enterprises, but its strategic value has also received attention at the national level.
