Entering the office building of the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan located in Astana, a ministerial meeting concerning the country's energy lifeline is underway. Alibek Thermauf, General Manager of Kazakh Natural Gas, opened the report in his hand and a series of numbers outlined the natural gas map of this Central Asian energy giant in the past year - from domestic market supply guarantee to energy cooperation with China, from livelihood subsidies to national treasury contributions. This state-owned enterprise has delivered a heavy report card in 2025.

Export 5 billion cubic meters to China
By 2025, the total volume of natural gas transmission through Kazakhstan's trunk lines will reach 88.5 billion cubic meters. In this vast energy flow, the eastward pipeline carries a special mission - exporting 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China throughout the year. This number not only reflects the depth of energy cooperation between China and Kazakhstan, but also demonstrates Kazakhstan's stable position as an important natural gas supplier to China. As the cooperation mechanism in the energy sector between the two countries becomes increasingly mature, this blue energy channel spanning Central Asia is providing strong support for China's clean energy supply.
Domestic market subsidy of 190.5 billion tenge
In the domestic market, Kazakhstan Natural Gas Company will supply 20.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas to the people of Kazakhstan by 2025. To reduce the burden of gas consumption on the public, the company invested over 190 billion tenge in consumer subsidies throughout the year, with an actual subsidy amount of 190.5 billion tenge. This measure not only ensures the energy and livelihood needs of the people, but also reflects the social responsibility undertaken by state-owned enterprises.

Pay 302.1 billion tenge to the national treasury
As an important state-owned enterprise in Kazakhstan, Gazprom will pay approximately 302.1 billion tenge in taxes to the national budget in 2025. This contribution provides important financial support for Kazakhstan's economic development and public services. At present, Kazakhstan's Marilis is undergoing a first reading review of relevant laws on natural gas supply and the efficient use of commodity natural gas. In the future, the development and regulation of the natural gas industry will be further regulated. Keywords: interconnectivity, natural gas transportation
Analysts point out that Kazakhstan has steadily expanded its exports to China while safeguarding its domestic market, demonstrating the balanced wisdom of its energy strategy. With the evolution of the international energy landscape and deepening regional cooperation, Kazakhstan's natural gas industry is expected to usher in new development opportunities in 2026.Editor/Gao Xue
