Recently, CHINA HARBOUR ENGINEING CO. LIMITED has successfully won the bid for the expansion project of Section 1C of the Kuala Lumpur Karat Expressway in Malaysia. The project is located between Gombak, Selangor, and Karat, Pahang, with a total length of about 60 kilometers. It is not only the "golden corridor" connecting the Malaysian capital circle and the East Coast Economic Zone, but also another landmark achievement of the joint construction of the the Belt and Road between China and Malaysia in the field of infrastructure.

As a major artery carrying huge traffic flow, the upgrading and renovation of this section can be regarded as a surgical engineering challenge. The construction content not only covers the widening of existing lanes and road surface reconstruction, but also involves the structural expansion of multiple existing bridges and elevated bridges. Of particular importance is that the project will excavate a brand new tunnel under complex geological conditions and construct an intelligent transportation management system and drainage and flood prevention facilities. This integrated renovation of "roads, bridges, and tunnels" requires the construction party to achieve high-precision operations within extreme construction periods.
The completion of the project will completely break the transportation bottleneck between Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Lumpur. It is expected that after the opening of the road, the travel time between the two places will be significantly reduced, which will not only effectively alleviate the congestion during holidays, but also activate the industrial potential along the route. From the financial center of Kuala Lumpur to the industrial park in Pahang state, the reduction of logistics costs and the acceleration of personnel flow will form a strong radiation effect, directly supporting the industrial upgrading of Malaysia's "Eastern Economic Corridor". It is worth mentioning that this project attaches great importance to the concepts of green and sustainable development. During the construction process, advanced equipment with low noise and low emissions will be used, and an ecological restoration area will be set up at the tunnel entrance to minimize interference with the tropical rainforest environment. CHEC will rely on its years of deep cultivation in Southeast Asia in technology and management experience, allocate high-quality resources, ensure high standard delivery of projects, and inject strong Chinese momentum into Malaysia's construction of a modern comprehensive transportation system.Editor/Cheng Liting
