Recently, at the Shanghai Rail Transit Unmanned Train Control System Engineering Technology Research Center, Matar Al Tayer, Director of Dubai Road and Traffic Management Bureau, stood in front of a holographic dispatch screen, gazing at the simulated train flow line. On the same day, he signed a memorandum of understanding with the head of Casco Corporation, announcing the joint construction of a rail transit laboratory in Dubai. This is not only another setback after China Railway Express won the bid for the Dubai Metro Blue Line, but also marks the transition of China's rail transit technology from project delivery to technological symbiosis.

New paradigm for upgrading technological cooperation
The core of this signing lies in the qualitative change of the depth of cooperation. Unlike previous simple equipment supply or engineering general contracting, both parties will create a comprehensive platform in Dubai that integrates system testing, functional verification, and talent training. The laboratory will focus on the deep integration of signal, communication, and control systems, providing full lifecycle technical support for the ongoing Dubai Metro Blue Line and future road network. This shift from turnkey to collaborative research and development means that Chinese technology solutions are deeply embedded in the innovation chain of local rail transit.

Cutting edge technology drives intelligence
The joint laboratory will focus on intelligent operation and AI scheduling as its main direction. In response to the high temperature, high humidity, and high passenger flow operating environment in Dubai, both parties will carry out customized technical research to ensure the stability and lifespan of equipment under extreme working conditions. Especially for the GoA4 level fully automated autonomous driving standard adopted by the Blue Line, the laboratory will undertake the key functions of technical adaptation and verification. By introducing artificial intelligence algorithms to optimize train schedules and energy management, the operational efficiency and intelligence level of Dubai Metro are expected to reach a new level. Technical standards are rooted in the eastern coast of China
This cooperation is also an important milestone for China's rail transit standards to go global. Relying on the joint laboratory, Casco will systematically transfer core technologies to Dubai and cultivate a local professional and technical talent pool. As the technical solutions produced by the laboratory are widely applied in the construction of new and old lines in Dubai, China's independently developed communication signal standards will gradually be transformed into local industry standards. This not only consolidated the position of CRSC in the high-end market of the Middle East, but also laid a solid foundation for the replication and promotion of China's smart city solutions along the the Belt and Road.Editor/Gao Xue
