In the Yinan Industrial Park in Ili, Xinjiang, on a vast construction site, tower cranes stand tall and welding sparks splatter. Workers are sprinting towards a common goal - to turn the million ton coal to oil project of Yitai Yili Energy Co., Ltd. from blueprint to reality as soon as possible. This is not only a massive project with an investment of 21.043 billion yuan, but also a key achievement for the country to promote clean and efficient utilization of coal.

Comprehensive acceleration of the project

The project has entered a critical period of construction, and the main project and supporting facilities are rapidly advancing in sync. The core goal of the current construction is to ensure the ignition of the first boiler by late June 2026. At the end of April, the project reached a milestone - the 110kV substation that supplied power to the entire plant was successfully powered in one go. At present, each main process unit is working hard to complete the civil engineering and steel structure, and the installation of process pipelines is immediately underway. Starting from May, with the completion of floor construction in each installation area, pipeline installation will be fully deployed, connecting the "bloodline" for subsequent equipment connections.

Extension of technology chain

This project is not simply a coal to oil conversion. On the basis of the 1 million tons/year coal to oil main body approved by the state, it has expanded the high value-added product chain and added four chain extension projects: alkylbenzene, reforming isomers, alpha olefins, and ethanol. The entire production system is complex and precise, covering core equipment such as air separation, coal gasification, purification, oil synthesis, tail gas hydrogen production, and oil processing. After completion, it will produce approximately 1.15 million tons of various main products annually, including alkylbenzene, high carbon alcohols, high-quality light hydrocarbons, and Fischer Tropsch wax. At the same time, by-products such as mixed alcohols and sulfur will be produced, achieving the high-quality, efficient, and clean utilization of coal resources.

Built and put into operation in stages

The entire project adopts a two-stage construction strategy to ensure steady progress. The first phase has been fully accelerated recently, with plans to complete the lifting of large equipment throughout the site by the end of this year. The goal is to put it into trial operation and produce qualified products by early 2027. The second phase of construction, which will be launched immediately, will ultimately achieve full completion and operation of the project by June 2028. The project is jointly invested by Yitai Coal Co., Ltd. and Yitai Group, with a registered capital of 1.57 billion yuan.
