On the afternoon of May 25, 2026, the President of China held talks with Serbian President Vu č i ć, who was on a state visit to China, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

The summit between the heads of state lays a solid foundation for friendship

  Both sides will always adhere to the principle of mutual firm support. China supports Serbia's independent choice of a development path that suits its national conditions, and is willing to carry out regular exchanges of governance experience with Serbia. Based on the high-quality development layout of China's 15th Five Year Plan, the two countries will deepen the docking of development strategies, solidly promote the implementation of the medium-term action plan for the joint construction of the the Belt and Road, and steadily expand cooperation in key areas such as transportation and energy infrastructure. Following the trend of the new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, both sides will focus on developing cooperation in emerging industries such as artificial intelligence, digital economy, green energy, and high-end manufacturing, and cultivate new growth poles for bilateral economic and trade development.

Wu Qiqi congratulated the smooth implementation of China's 15th Five Year Plan and firmly believed that under the overall guidance of China, China will continue to achieve high-quality development and reap fruitful development results. He stated that since the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Serbia, the scope of cooperation between the two countries has continued to expand, the quality and efficiency of cooperation have steadily improved, and the strong friendship has deeply rooted in people's hearts. Serbia always remembers China's firm support in national sovereignty, independent development, and highly recognizes the positive contributions made by Chinese enterprises to Serbia's infrastructure construction and economic and social development. The Serbian side has always been firmly committed to deepening friendly cooperation with China, firmly safeguarding China's core interests, and looking forward to working with China to jointly build the the Belt and Road with high quality, speed up the implementation of various major cooperation projects, enrich the forms of people to people and cultural exchanges, and promote China Serbia comprehensive strategic cooperation to continue to go deep, practical and effective.

After the talks, the two heads of state jointly witnessed the signing of more than 20 cooperation documents in politics, economy and trade, science and technology, education, justice, culture and other fields, and simultaneously issued two heavyweight joint statements, focusing on the construction of a community of shared future between China and Serbia in the new era and the implementation and promotion of the four major global initiatives. The relevant statement clearly states that the two sides fully recognize the important role of jointly building the the Belt and Road in boosting the economic and social development of the two countries, and will rely on this cooperation platform to continue to expand the dimensions of cooperation in economy and trade, investment, transportation, energy, information technology, people to people and cultural fields, so as to fully guarantee the smooth operation of cooperation projects and the safety of staff.

Both sides highly recognize the achievements of scientific and technological innovation cooperation between the two countries. In the next step, we will deepen practical cooperation in cutting-edge fields such as space technology, artificial intelligence, embodied intelligence, digital economy, and new energy, and work together to cultivate and strengthen new quality productive forces, empowering industrial upgrading and high-quality development of both countries.

 Li Qiang stated that China will continue to deepen its development strategy alignment with Serbia, fully leverage the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms such as the bilateral economic and trade commission and investment working group, activate the dividends of the bilateral free trade agreement, and continue to expand and strengthen the scale of bilateral economic and trade cooperation. China welcomes Serbia to expand its exports of high-quality and characteristic products to China, supports domestic high-quality enterprises to invest and develop in Serbia, and deeply cultivates emerging fields such as artificial intelligence, new energy, advanced manufacturing, and green low-carbon. Vu č i ć highly praised the key empowering role of Chinese investment and project cooperation in Serbia's economic development, and highly appreciated the outstanding achievements of China's economic and social development.
