In early summer in Beijing, two cooperation agreements were solemnly signed in the conference room of China Resources Headquarters - Wang Pingwei, Chairman and President of China Resources, and Li Zuhui, Chairman of Peru Jinda Mining, shook hands and greeted each other. At this moment, not only does it mean that the strategic cooperation between the two sides has entered the practical stage, but it also declares that this mining enterprise deeply rooted in Africa and China has officially entered a new chapter in mineral development in South America after years of analysis.

Signed and finalized the first copper mining project in South America

On May 20, 2026, China National Mining Corporation Limited and Peru Jinda Mining Co., Ltd. signed a mining rights cooperation agreement for the La Haya copper mine project in Peru. According to the agreement, Peru Jinda Mining will re register its ownership of the La Raya copper mine to a joint venture company jointly established by both parties and controlled by China Resources. Jinda Mining in Peru relies on its local advantages to be responsible for community coordination and compliance affairs, while Zhongkuang Resources injects funds, exploration technology, and full industry chain resources to jointly promote resource development, enhance project efficiency through complementary advantages, and achieve sustainable economic benefits and strategic goals.

Breccia tube copper mine is about to open for exploration

The La Raya copper mine is located in the porphyry breccia copper mineralization belt of the Andes Mountains in Peru, and the mining area is mainly dominated by breccia tube copper deposits. At the beginning of the project, the first phase of exploration work will be initiated to further investigate the distribution of copper resources in the mining area. Subsequently, a detailed exploration design plan will be prepared and drilling verification will be carried out simultaneously, laying a data foundation for subsequent feasibility studies and mine construction.

Pioneering projects pave the way for expansion in South America

This is the first project of Zhongkuang Resources to enter the South American mining industry, defined by Chairman Wang Pingwei as the company's leading model in South America. Through the development and operation of the La Raya copper mine, Zhongkuang Resources will become familiar with Peru's laws, regulations, and policy environment related to overseas investment and construction, environmental protection, and labor employment, accumulate project operation experience in Latin America, and lay a solid foundation for Chinese enterprises to continue expanding their mining territory in South America.

Peru is the world's second largest copper producer, and Chinese enterprises have steadily obtained high-quality copper resources through joint ventures, which is also an important practice to enhance China's strategic mineral resource security capabilities. With the implementation of the agreement, the globalization puzzle of China Resources officially extends to South America.Editor/Yang Meiling
