On the vast land of the Ordos Plateau, mountains of corn stalks, wheat stubble, and tree pruning residues accumulate every autumn harvest. In the past, most of these agricultural and forestry wastes were burned, which not only polluted the air but also wasted resources. Now, a company called Zhensheng Biotechnology is preparing to turn these neglected straw into green energy to drive the future.

The project is settled in Dalat Banner

In 2026, Dalate Banner Economic Development Zone in Ordos City will welcome a new face - the biomass green hydrogen project of Zhensheng Biotechnology (Inner Mongolia) Co., Ltd. has been officially registered. This project, with a total investment of 450 million yuan, covers a large area and will build new factories, office buildings, warehouses, and a complete set of supporting facilities. The project unit, Zhensheng Biotechnology (Inner Mongolia) Co., Ltd., is in place and plans to start construction in July 2026 and complete the project in July 2028. At that time, a green chemical base with biomass as the core will be built along the bend of the Yellow River.

The password for turning straw into green hydrogen

The core process route of the project is to collect agricultural and forestry waste such as corn stalks and forest residues, and preprocess them through a slurry process to produce biomass activated carbon powder. At the same time, the by-product is guaiacol humic acid multi nutrient fertilizer. This is just the first step.

Activate the charcoal powder and then divide the troops into two routes. Through processes such as mixing and carbon adjustment, a multi-component bio slurry is produced, which is then sent to an fluidized bed gasification device to extract green hydrogen. The by-product bio ash is further processed into a new humic acid organic mineral matrix. Another route of activated carbon powder is dried and ground to produce biomass alloy slurry, which is then extended to manufacture biobased composite materials.

The entire process squeezes out agricultural and forestry waste without wasting any part. This path of converting low value added biomass into high value added hydrogen energy and materials is currently at the forefront of the intersection of biomanufacturing and green energy.

The layout behind the production capacity of 10000 tons

The output list after the completion of the project is quite impressive: an annual output of 65000 tons of green hydrogen, 300000 tons of biomass alloy slurry, 30000 tons of new humic acid organic mineral matrix, and 36000 tons of guaiacol humic acid multi nutrient fertilizer.

What is the concept of 65000 tons of green hydrogen? Based on the current hydrogen consumption of about 8 to 10 kilograms per 100 kilometers for hydrogen powered heavy-duty trucks, these green hydrogen can support hundreds of thousands of hydrogen powered heavy-duty trucks to run their full annual operating mileage in one year, equivalent to replacing millions of tons of diesel consumption. And 300000 tons of biomass alloy slurry and biobased composite materials provide biodegradable and low-carbon alternative raw materials for downstream industries such as plastics and building materials.

The implementation of green hydrogen projects in Ordos, a traditional coal city, is of symbolic significance. In recent years, Inner Mongolia has vigorously promoted the coupling development of coal chemical industry and green hydrogen, and Ordos has proposed the strategic goal of building a green hydrogen city in northern Xinjiang. From wind and solar hydrogen production to biomass hydrogen production, the hydrogen energy landscape in Ordos is expanding from a single renewable energy electrolysis water route to diversified hydrogen production technologies. The project of Zhensheng Biotechnology is an important milestone in the field of biomass hydrogen production.keywords:New energy latest reports

When the summer of 2028 arrives, the factories in Dalat Banner will no longer only have the roar of machines, but also the green hydrogen gas flowing from the straw. The agricultural and forestry waste that was once burned in the fields will eventually return to the economic cycle of this land in a cleaner and more valuable way.Editor/Yang Meiling
