When traditional industrial regions encounter the Green Hydrogen Revolution, an energy experiment of turning carbon into gold is quietly unfolding on the grasslands of northern Xinjiang. A new energy enterprise has deeply coupled wind power, photovoltaics, and biomass for the first time, and has laid out the first hydrogen based green fuel demonstration project on this land, attempting to use green electricity and straw to brew truly green methanol.
Carry out the first public announcement of environmental impact assessment
On August 21, 2026, the first public participation information on environmental impact assessment was released for the 200000 ton green methanol integrated project of new energy green electricity hydrogen production and biomass coupling in Guyang County, Inner Mongolia. The construction unit of this project is Xindao Hydrogen Energy Technology (Baotou) Co., Ltd. The environmental impact assessment document is prepared by MCC Northwest Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. The site is located in Jinshan Economic Development Zone, Guyang County, Baotou City, Inner Mongolia. The main plan is to build an annual production capacity of 200000 tons of green methanol and to simultaneously construct various public auxiliary facilities.

On April 29, 2026, the groundbreaking ceremony for the annual production of 200000 tons of green methanol project by Xindao Energy in Guyang County was successfully held in the Jinshan Economic Development Zone of Guyang. Overall construction overview
Zhang Fadong, Vice President of Xindao Energy Group and General Manager of Baotou Company, introduced that this project is the first demonstration project for the enterprise to layout the hydrogen based green fuel track, with a total investment of 5.1 billion yuan and a land area of 600 acres. It will be constructed in three phases and is planned to be fully completed and put into operation by 2028. The energy sector of the project is equipped with 390 MW off grid wind power and 100 MW off grid photovoltaic power generation, combined with biomass waste heat power generation units and flywheel energy storage auxiliary equipment, to build a complete integrated system of electricity hydrogen carbon alcohol, solve the problem of off grid green electricity fluctuations, ensure the smooth operation of chemical equipment, and achieve the goal of efficient production of green methanol.Editor/Gong Ziwei
