The scorching sun shines on the vast construction sites in southern Dubai, and tens of thousands of builders shuttle through the steel jungle like ant colonies. As the expansion project of Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) enters the large-scale construction stage, curtain wall and roof engineering will soon become the new construction protagonists after the foundation and main structure. This highly anticipated future super hub is strictly following the countdown to its operation in 2032, step by step transforming from a grand blueprint into a reality.

The 100 billion yuan project is advancing at full speed

The project has entered its peak construction period, with a contract value of over 13 billion dirhams for ongoing construction projects. The massive construction volume has brought astonishing data: the cumulative construction hours have exceeded tens of millions, and it is expected that the number of on-site construction personnel during peak periods will reach 120000. Under strict project management, all core major milestones have been pushed forward in an orderly manner in accordance with the approved construction period, demonstrating extremely high engineering execution capability.

Curtain wall bidding locked within the year

2026 is a crucial preparation year for the project, with core work focused on awarding major sections with a total value exceeding 55 billion dirhams. Among them, curtain wall and roof engineering are of paramount importance, and the bidding is planned to be completed within this year. This project will serve the main body of a large-span terminal building with a total area of 1.5 million square meters. It not only needs to meet complex architectural aesthetic requirements, but also needs to be equipped with advanced boarding bridge systems, which is a key part of improving airport functions. Consolidate the global hub position

As the flagship project of Dubai's D33 economic agenda, the new airport is not only a transportation infrastructure, but also the core of the national strategy. After the project is fully completed, it will completely reshape the air logistics map of the Middle East and even the world, greatly enhancing Dubai's cargo throughput and passenger reception capabilities, and further consolidating its position as a top global transportation hub connecting the East and the West.Editor/Gao Xue
