Nepal, which has long lagged behind in infrastructure construction and slow project progress, has reached a historic turning point in its development. The local government has launched the strongest infrastructure acceleration plan in history.

Heavy launch of super infrastructure plan

The Nepalese government, led by Baron Shah, is making every effort to advance the largest and fastest infrastructure construction plan in the country's history. The government plans to launch large-scale infrastructure project tenders with a total value of approximately 10 trillion Nepalese rupees in this fiscal year, in an extraordinary pace to promote national infrastructure upgrading and urban development.

Nepal's Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Sunil Ramsar, introduced that the government will integrate and promote all key development projects that were originally planned to be implemented within three years. Although the annual budget of the department is only 286 billion rupees, relying on the current cost system, automatic price adjustment mechanism, and multi-year project coordination model, the official has finalized the unprecedented centralized bidding plan. The minister stated that in the past, large-scale infrastructure projects in Nepal generally took 20 to 22 months from bidding preparation to official commencement. Through the new model of packaging and integrating projects and unified bidding, the approval and construction process can be compressed to 6 to 7 months, greatly shortening the construction period and accelerating the landing and production of various infrastructure projects. The Nepalese government bluntly stated that this heavyweight measure is a super project that empowers the country's roads, bridges, urban construction and other fields, which will greatly improve the efficiency of domestic infrastructure construction and comprehensively accelerate the overall development pace of the country.

Opportunities and challenges coexist

Industry analysis indicates that if the infrastructure plan is successfully implemented, it will become one of the largest infrastructure investment actions in Nepal in recent years. The concentrated commencement of large-scale projects can effectively drive the vigorous development of upstream and downstream industries such as construction, building materials, and logistics transportation, create massive employment opportunities, and comprehensively optimize the national transportation and urban infrastructure supporting facilities. At the same time, this billion dollar infrastructure plan also faces many tests. Whether the project can be pushed forward on schedule, whether the funds can be fully guaranteed, and whether the landing management and execution capabilities meet the standards are all core issues of concern to the outside world. An unprecedented infrastructure battle has officially begun in Nepal.Editor/Gong Ziwei
