Geosonic, a coastal survey and positioning service provider headquartered in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, recently received an upgraded underwater survey and testing project in Turkmenistan. This is the second project that the company has landed locally, covering over 200 kilometers of offshore pipeline infrastructure, marking a further expansion of its business layout in the Caspian Sea region.

The project service covers remote control submersible detection, geophysical survey, cathodic protection status investigation, and full chain seabed data collection, ultimately providing accurate data support for the integrity management of local core offshore oil and gas assets.

The business map of the Caspian Sea region continues to expand

Previously, Geosonic's first project in Turkmenistan had completed the basic survey of nearly 100 kilometers of submarine pipelines, accumulating first-hand data on the seabed topography and hydrological environment of the central Caspian Sea. The new contract for this scale upgrade directly expands the service scope to over 200 kilometers, relying on the accumulated regional operational experience, which can significantly reduce the initial adaptation costs of new survey projects.

There are a large number of mature oil and gas fields and cross regional gas pipelines distributed on the Turkmenistan side of the Caspian Sea. Many facilities have been in operation for more than ten years, and regular seabed surveys and inspections are essential to ensure the safe operation of assets. The market space is still being continuously released.

Cross sea operation capability verified

In May of this year, Geosonic completed the underwater survey operation for the Saudi Arabia Farasan Island interconnection project, providing accurate seabed data support for the laying of over 300 kilometers of submarine power cables and 110 kilometers of submarine optical cables, helping the project avoid multiple geological hazards caused by unstable seabed conditions. Keywords: oil and gas pipelines, seabed surveys

The consecutive landing of projects in Saudi Arabia and Turkmenistan has verified the operational adaptability of this UAE service provider in different sea areas. As the demand for offshore oil and gas development and cross-border energy channel maintenance continues to rise in the countries surrounding the Caspian Sea, Geosonic's integrated seabed survey solution can further cover more offshore project scenarios in Central and West Asia.Editor/Cheng Liting
