Recently, under the scorching sun in Chengmai, Hainan, photovoltaic panels were neatly laid out above farmland, and crops under the panels were growing vigorously. Good news from China Petroleum Southern Oilfield: Chengmai Fushan 100MW Agricultural Photovoltaic Complementary Project has completed 6.5 million kilowatt hours of market-oriented green electricity trading. This is the first unsubsidized agricultural photovoltaic complementary project of China Petroleum, marking the official departure of policy dependence from the development of new energy in the oil and gas industry and entering a new stage of fully market-oriented operation.

Breaking through the subsidy system and relying on the old model

In the past, domestic new energy projects were highly dependent on policy subsidies, and the market's ability to resist risks was weak. The project established a subsidy free positioning during the planning stage, relying on market-oriented mechanisms throughout the operation, and independently responding to supply and demand fluctuations and electricity price fluctuations. According to transaction data, since June 2026, the market-oriented transaction electricity price of the project has been better than the regional average price, and the efficiency has increased by 16.9% compared to the traditional passive market entry model. It has successfully opened up the entire process loop of development and construction, grid connection acceptance, and market-oriented transaction revenue generation, setting a benchmark for the industry's transformation from policy driven red profit to market driven efficiency.

Activate the new kinetic energy of land composite

The project innovatively integrates new energy and modern agriculture, effectively revitalizing idle rural land in Hainan and building a three-dimensional industrial system of on-board power generation and off board planting. While producing an average of 140 million kilowatt hours of green electricity annually, it also drives the diversification and upgrading of local agriculture. The green and low-carbon achievements are significant, saving 42900 tons of standard coal annually, reducing 84400 tons of carbon dioxide emissions, and successfully obtaining carbon neutrality certification, achieving synergistic improvement of ecological, economic, and social benefits, injecting green power into rural revitalization. Empowering the operation of the entire chain with digital intelligence

Faced with the high standard requirements of unsubsidized operation, Southern Oilfield has established a normalized collaborative operation system in conjunction with professional power sales companies. Relying on big data and AI intelligent analysis technology, integrating multidimensional data such as weather, load, and electricity prices, and promoting the shift of transaction decision-making from empirical judgment to data-driven. Simultaneously achieving deep linkage between intelligent trading and intelligent operation and maintenance, ensuring stable operation of the unit through real-time monitoring and fault diagnosis. After the project was connected to the grid, all market access procedures were completed in just 49 days, achieving seamless integration between grid connected production and market-oriented revenue generation, demonstrating a new height of lean management in Chinese energy enterprises.Editor/Gao Xue
