Recently, news came from Haixi Prefecture in Qinghai Province that the total installed capacity of clean energy in the province has reached 29.93 million kilowatts, nearly three times that of the end of the 13th Five Year Plan period. The Three Gorges 200000 kW solar thermal project has been put into operation, the CGN 200000 kW solar thermal project is accelerating, and the world's largest liquid compressed air energy storage project, the Luneng Golmud 60000 kW project, has landed. From photovoltaics to solar thermal energy, from electrochemical energy storage to compressed air energy storage, Haixi Prefecture is making great strides towards the goal of becoming the capital of solar thermal energy in China with multiple national pioneering and global benchmark projects.

Nearly 30 million kilowatts of clean energy installed capacity

In the past five years, Haixi Prefecture has taken clean energy as the main direction to promote high-quality development. The total installed capacity of clean energy in the whole province reached 29.93 million kilowatts, including energy storage, nearly three times that of the end of the 13th Five Year Plan, accounting for 37.9% of the province's total. The installed capacity of new energy was 29.4 million kilowatts, ranking first in the province. Three new energy industry clusters with a capacity of tens of millions of kilowatts have been established, taking the lead in the province to achieve the dual main body of new energy installed capacity and power generation proportion, becoming the region with the largest concentrated layout scale of domestic solar thermal projects. The Qaidam Desert Base has been included in the national plan for the Shage Desert Base, and the construction of the 2.4 million kilowatt pumped storage project at the southern mouth of Golmud in the Three Gorges is accelerating.

Solar thermal installation refers to 3 million kilowatts

Facing the 15th Five Year Plan, Haixi Prefecture will focus on core tracks such as export bases, solar thermal power generation, new energy storage, and equipment manufacturing. By focusing on strong thermal characteristics, we will promote three large-scale independent solar thermal projects with a capacity of 350000 kilowatts at a high level, and orderly implement the first four 300000 kilowatt level solar thermal projects in the province by 2026. We will tackle advanced technologies for 600000 kilowatt level solar thermal projects and strive to achieve a total solar thermal installed capacity of over 3 million kilowatts in the whole province by 2030, aiming to build China's solar thermal capital with high standards. Haixi Prefecture adheres to the coordination of multiple types of energy storage, focusing on the development of grid structured electrochemical energy storage and molten salt energy storage. The world's largest liquid compressed air energy storage project, the Luneng Golmud 60000 kW project, has landed. The high standard promotion of Delingha Clean Energy Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park has accelerated the layout of wind power, solar thermal, and energy storage industry chains, and the industrial agglomeration effect is becoming increasingly prominent. Haixi Prefecture is actively laying out the emerging track of sodium ion batteries, using digital technologies such as virtual power plants and artificial intelligence to link green energy carrying industries such as salt lakes and computing power, and exploring new models of integrated development of wind, solar, computing, and storage. Strive to exceed 60 million kilowatts of clean energy installed capacity in the whole state by the end of the 15th Five Year Plan, and steadily increase the proportion of green electricity to over 80%.
