Once, power workers had to follow a soft ladder and dive into a dark and damp deep foundation pit, risking collapse and toxic gas to measure every inch of the land. Nowadays, in the mountains of Jinhua, drones have replaced flesh and blood, using lasers to outline the precise contours of the underground world. A construction project about light is quietly bidding farewell to danger.

The summer power grid construction campaign has been fully launched, and digital intelligent technology has injected new impetus into power construction. Jinhua, Zhejiang Province is seizing the window period for peak summer construction and accelerating the transformation and upgrading of urban and rural distribution networks. State Grid Jinhua Power Supply Company has independently developed intelligent construction equipment to solve the problems of poor safety and low efficiency in traditional construction, ensuring high-quality construction of local power projects.
Intelligent devices are put into construction
At the construction site of the 110 kV transmission line in Qiancang, Jinhua, the company's self-developed unmanned aerial vehicle combined with SLAM intelligent detection equipment completed a comprehensive survey of all deep foundation pits. This innovative technology has obtained both national patent and computer software copyright certifications.
Traditional testing has higher risks
The completion and acceptance of power foundation pits has always been a high-risk process in the field of infrastructure construction. The traditional detection method requires workers to enter the pit with the help of a soft ladder. The deep foundation pit has dim lighting, weak communication signals, and multiple risks such as object falling, harmful gases, and personnel falling, making it difficult to support the simultaneous construction of multiple power grid projects.

Digital equipment quality improvement and risk avoidance
In order to solve the existing problems in the industry and optimize the safety acceptance process of foundation pits, State Grid Jinhua Power Supply has independently developed a complete set of unmanned aerial vehicle SLAM intelligent detection equipment for foundation pits based on the actual construction scenario of the local power grid.Zhu Yizhen, a staff member of State Grid Jinhua Power Supply, said that the excavation inspection process is dangerous and complicated, and the new equipment changes the original operation mode. In the past, personnel had to go into the pit for surveying, but now there is no need to go into the mountains or foundation pits. Drones equipped with scanning instruments can complete the operation. 3D laser scanning quickly builds a three-dimensional model of the foundation pit, automatically calculates the length, width, height, and excavation volume of the soil, with a detection speed five times faster than manual labor and measurement accuracy reaching millimeter level. The entire equipment is easy to operate and has strong security capabilities. The staff only need to remotely control it from a safe area on the ground, without entering dangerous foundation pits throughout the process. The efficiency of construction inspection has been greatly improved, effectively reducing the pressure on the construction period of summer power grid infrastructure.Editor/Gong Ziwei
