On October 16, 2026, the unveiling ceremony of the seventh Confucius Institute in Portugal - the Confucius Institute at the University of Evora - was held at the University of Evora. Wang Yanjie, Counsellor in charge of cultural and educational affairs at the Embassy in Portugal, Candayas, President of É vora University, Qu Zhaowei, Secretary of Beijing Language and Culture University, deans of various Confucius Institutes in Portugal, and guests from all walks of life attended.

The establishment of the Confucius Institute at É vora University has provided a new platform for educational, cultural, and local exchanges between the two countries in the interior of Portugal. It will create new opportunities for local people, especially young students, to learn Chinese, understand China, and perceive Chinese culture.

Guests from all walks of life have expressed that Portugal China friendly exchanges have a long history, and Confucius Institutes are not only a platform for language and cultural exchanges, but also a bridge for deepening academic and scientific research cooperation between the two countries. É vora University, Beijing Language and Culture University, and City University of Macau complement each other's strengths and will jointly promote the Confucius Institute to develop its own characteristics, level, and influence, making new contributions to promoting Sino Portuguese educational cooperation and cultural exchanges.Editor/Gong Ziwei
