At the signing ceremony between MCC North and KMT Mining and Metallurgy Company in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, representatives from both parties signed and stamped the contract text. This production line project with an annual output of 500000 tons of electric furnace steelmaking and 261000 tons of rebar has officially landed. For Tajikistan, which has long relied on steel imports, this contract not only represents a historic breakthrough in the local steel industry, but also marks a new stage of production capacity cooperation between China and Tajikistan in the metallurgical field across the entire industry chain.

Fill the gap of high-quality local steel products

Tajikistan has abundant mineral resources, but has long lacked a complete steel deep processing industry chain. Domestic construction steel mainly relies on imports. The electric furnace steelmaking and rebar rolling project signed this time plans to build a short process electric furnace steelmaking production line with an annual output of 500000 tons, and synchronously support a rebar production capacity of 261000 tons. After completion, it will rely on the local raw material supply system to achieve on-site conversion and deep processing of iron ore resources, effectively filling the gap in local high-quality building material production.

Iron front business has laid the foundation

This project is a landmark project for MCC North to deeply cultivate the Tajikistan market. In the early stage, core businesses such as open-pit mining, mineral processing, tailings pond, and an annual production line of 1 million tons of pellets have been laid out in the iron front. Since the start of construction, MCC North has fully utilized its independent and controllable advantages in complete sets of iron-based metallurgy technology and full chain EPC service capabilities, steadily promoted construction installation and safety control, and gained full recognition from the owners for construction quality and efficiency. Establish a sound regional integrated industrial system

The implementation of the new project will alleviate the local dependence on steel imports and improve the integrated industrial system from mineral resource development, smelting and processing to terminal building material supply. After the full process of mining, beneficiation, pellet production, electric furnace steelmaking, and rebar rolling is completed, it will promote the transformation of Tajikistan's metallurgical industry from resource exporting to deep processing, create employment opportunities for the local area, drive supporting industries, and provide a demonstration model for metallurgical cooperation in Central Asia.Editor/Gao Xue
