Kazakhstan urges advancing SCO cultural cooperation via digitalization

The meeting of the Council of Ministers of Culture of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states was recently held in Joerpunta, Kyrgyzstan. Heads and representatives of cultural authorities from Kazakhstan, Belarus, India, Iran, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan attended the meeting.

The attending parties discussed topics such as strengthening cultural ties, implementing joint projects, and expanding new directions for cultural cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Aibek Sedkov, Deputy Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan, stated at the meeting that Kazakhstan's President Kassemjomart Tokayev attaches great importance to cultural development and the inheritance of national heritage. At present, Kazakhstan is continuously promoting the modernization of cultural infrastructure, providing comprehensive support for creative groups, and actively promoting national art to the international stage.

At the meeting, Hafang also introduced the experience accumulated in digitizing museum collections and proposed initiatives such as establishing a shared digital catalog among SCO member states, hosting virtual exhibitions, and developing online archives.

The meeting also discussed cooperation issues in the film industry.
