Jiayou International wins bid for China Mongolia cross-border railway logistics project

Along the cross-border railway line from Ganqimaodu Port in China to Gashunsu Port in Mongolia, infrastructure materials such as steel rails and turnouts are about to be shipped. Jiayou International has successfully won the bid for the international logistics project of the second cross-border railway between China and Mongolia, providing one-stop cross-border customs clearance and transportation services for this major artery that has been under negotiation for 21 years. From two meetings between national leaders to the implementation of logistics enterprise bidding, the key channel for China Mongolia connectivity has officially entered the stage of material transportation.

Twenty one year negotiations finally come to fruition

The Ganqimaodu to Gashun Suhaitu Cross border Railway is the second official cooperation agreement for cross-border railways between China and Mongolia to be established after 70 years. In February 2025, Mongolian Prime Minister Aoyun Erdeng visited China, and the two sides signed the cooperation agreement on cross-border railway, coal trade and Tawentolgoi coal mine capacity improvement, which is a landmark achievement of the strategic docking between the joint construction of the the Belt and Road and the Mongolian Grassland Road. In June 2026, Premier Li Qiang reiterated during his meeting with Mongolian Prime Minister Ukirl in Dalian that China will continue to promote the construction of border railways and port infrastructure.

Jiayou International won the bid for material transportation

Jiayou International has successfully won the bid for the cross-border railway international logistics project, responsible for providing one-stop cross-border customs clearance and transportation services for infrastructure materials such as steel rails and turnouts. The project will open up a new channel for energy and mineral trade between China and Mongolia, provide logistics support for the production capacity improvement of the Tawin Tolgoi coal mine, and deepen cross-border logistics cooperation throughout the entire chain. Deepening the pattern of connectivity between China and Mongolia

The railway is a landmark achievement of the strategic docking between the joint construction of the the Belt and Road and the Mongolian Grassland Road. Both sides have signed a new round of bilateral coal trade agreement, clarifying that the Chinese market remains the core target market for Mongolia's coal exports.
