On July 21, 2026, Ambassador to Syria Shi Hongwei met with the Minister of Transport of the Syrian Transitional Government, Yarub Badr, to exchange views on strengthening cooperation in the field of transportation between the two countries.

Shi Hongwei stated that the friendship between China and Syria has a long history, and Syria has been an important node on the Silk Road since ancient times, playing an important role in promoting regional connectivity and East West exchanges. China is willing to provide assistance within its capabilities for the post-war economic and social development and improvement of people's livelihoods in Syria, promote exchanges and visits between personnel in relevant fields, and advance the friendly relations between the two countries.

Badr expressed gratitude to China for providing multiple batches of bus assistance to Syria, which has provided strong help in filling the shortage of public transportation in Syria and reflects the deep friendship between the two countries. China has achieved remarkable achievements and accumulated rich experience in the field of transportation construction.
