In 2026, the government will allocate 384 billion tenge for nationwide power plant maintenance, an increase of 9% compared to last year. The funds will come from electricity price adjustments, and each power station will identify weak links and prioritize repairs.

Hidden defects slow down progress

According to the plan, major repairs for 9 generator sets, 55 boilers, and 51 turbines need to be completed by 2026. As of now, 2 units have been completed and 2 more are under maintenance; 13 boilers have been repaired, while 27 are still under construction; 8 turbines have been delivered, and 16 are still in progress.

The maintenance work is strictly carried out according to the plan, but some facilities have exposed hidden defects, which has increased the workload. In addition, over 500 auxiliary equipment units across the country have been included in the maintenance scope simultaneously.
