With the implementation of the China Africa Minimally Invasive Medicine Partnership Program, China and Egypt have joined hands to build an academic platform for minimally invasive surgery, allowing the precise skills of endoscopes and robots to take root on the African continent and inject minimally invasive capabilities into local medical care.

Project implementation, establishment of cooperation platform

The launch ceremony of the Sino African Minimally Invasive Medicine Partnership Program was successfully held on the 27th in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. Based on this cooperation plan, China and Egypt will work together to create an academic exchange platform for minimally invasive surgery, helping to promote the exchange and popularization of cutting-edge medical technologies such as laparoscopy and robotic surgery.

Speeches from all parties to deepen medical cooperation

Ethiopian President Taye attended the ceremony and delivered a speech, stating that the cooperation between China and Ethiopia in various fields such as healthcare continues to deepen. So far, China has sent a total of 27 batches of foreign medical aid teams to Ethiopia. This minimally invasive medical cooperation is of great significance in enhancing Ethiopia's overall medical service capabilities and cultivating local medical talents. Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Chen Hai stated that the China Africa Minimally Invasive Medicine Partnership Program is a concrete measure to implement the Health Partnership Action of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation. The medical cooperation between China and Egypt has a solid foundation and enormous development potential, and bilateral multi field health cooperation will continue to be promoted.

Unveiling plaques and opening classes to empower African healthcare

This event is jointly organized by the Sino African Hospital Alliance Endoscopic Minimally Invasive Surgery Joint Working Group led by Xiangya Hospital of Central South University and Addis Ababa Hospital. At the event, the unveiling of two core platforms was completed simultaneously, and the establishment ceremony of the Ethiopian branch center for Central African surgical robots and endoscopic technology, as well as the first special training course, were held successively. Minimally invasive surgery has significant advantages such as high precision, small incision, and fast postoperative recovery. This first training session attracted nearly 40 healthcare professionals from six African countries, including Ethiopia, Sudan, and Tanzania.
