On July 25, 2026, Chongqing Haohong Xuwei New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. launched a bidding process for the production project of solid-state sodium ion batteries - with a total investment of 10 billion yuan and a planned production capacity of 30 GWh. The project will be constructed in three phases, covering a total land area of approximately 1200 acres.

This is not a technical validation in the laboratory, but a production line built according to the national top-level solid-state sodium ion battery super factory standards, which is moving from drawings to construction.

From 1GWh pilot test to 30GWh mass production

The project is progressing in three phases with a clear rhythm. The first phase of the positioning pilot project, with an investment of 200 million yuan, is located in the Dingyou Electronic Factory in Tongnan District. Using approximately 17500 square meters of standard factory buildings, a 1GWh sodium ion battery pilot line with an annual output will be constructed using the EPC general contracting mode. The total construction period is 150 days, and the bidding deadline is August 5, 2026.

The second phase has entered the stage of large-scale production, with an investment of 4 billion yuan and a land area of about 600 acres. A production line with an annual output of 10 GWh sodium ion batteries will be built, supporting facilities such as positive and negative electrode preparation workshops, battery molding workshops, assembly workshops, and research and development centers. The EPC general contracting period is also 150 days, and the bidding deadline is August 25, 2026. The third phase of production capacity sprint, with an investment of 6 billion yuan, will expand the production workshop on about 600 acres of land, build an annual production capacity of 20GWh sodium ion battery and PACK line, and form a total production capacity of 30GWh with the second phase.

The window for sodium electricity industrialization is narrowing

The industrialization process of sodium ion batteries is accelerating. CATL's new sodium ion battery has passed the new national standard certification, becoming the world's first sodium ion battery to pass GB38031-2025 certification. The battery cell energy density reaches 175Wh/kg and has a pure electric range of over 500 kilometers. It is planned to officially enter mass production in December 2026.
