When the lights of the Changsha workshop illuminate the joints of this steel skillful hand, it is ready to rush to the underground of the Lion City thousands of miles away. In the deep and narrow tunnel, it will replace manual work and stitch together the bones of the city with millimeter level accuracy. This intelligent robot that can walk and think is quietly rewriting the old script of large-diameter tunnel construction.

Recently, CRCHI customized and developed a mid wall intelligent assembly robot for the Singapore Cross Island Line project, which has completed final assembly and commissioning in Changsha and successfully rolled off the production line. It will soon be sent to Singapore. This equipment is specially designed to solve the installation problems of large prefabricated components in large-diameter tunnels, solving the industry pain points of low construction efficiency and poor adaptability of traditional equipment.

Integrated operation of three core technologies

The equipment integrates three core systems: a multi degree of freedom heavy-duty robotic arm, a fully tracked self-propelled chassis, and intelligent safety monitoring. It can complete the lifting, alignment, and standardized installation of tunnel partition walls and flue plates in one stop. Relying on a high torque hydraulic mechanism, the equipment has strong operational stability. The eight degree of freedom robotic arm can achieve millimeter level precise positioning, which improves construction efficiency by more than 30% compared to traditional manual lifting, and ensures stable and controllable assembly quality. Flexible, safe, green and environmentally friendly

The equipment does not require the installation of dedicated tracks and can flexibly pass through narrow tunnel spaces without interfering with the operation of supporting construction vehicles. Equipped with multiple intelligent sensing modules, it can prevent collisions and misoperations throughout the entire process, ensuring comprehensive construction safety. The equipment is driven by lithium batteries, with zero emissions, low noise, and wireless cable hazards, meeting Singapore's high standard construction requirements. It is expected to be put into operation for the local cross island subway project within 2026. It is another practice of launching domestic engineering equipment under the framework of jointly building the the Belt and Road.Editor/Gong Ziwei
