In the hilly area between the cities of Zaje č ar and Bor in eastern Serbia, three photovoltaic sites are waiting for the first wave of electricity. This is the site selection for the Solarina solar power plant - with a planned capacity of 192 megawatts, an investment of 155.7 million euros, three independent sub sites, and 16.77 kilometers of high-voltage transmission lines. After completion, it will be one of the largest solar power plants in Serbia to date.

16 million euros leverage 100 megawatt level photovoltaics

The Solarina project is located in eastern Serbia, covering an area of approximately 320 hectares and consisting of three relatively independent photovoltaic sub fields: Celina 1, Celina 2, and Celina 3. The three sites are located in the Amerovica, Sala š, and Mala Jasikova regions. The electricity generated by each site is collected through medium voltage underground cables to the 35/110 kV Solarina substation, and then connected to the Bor 2 substation through a 16.77 kilometer 110 kV overhead line and a 1.45 kilometer underground cable. Finally, it is integrated into the Serbian national power grid.

The total investment of the project is approximately 155.7 million euros, and EBRD has approved the provision of up to approximately 36.2 million euros in project financing and approximately 2.52 million euros in guarantee support to the project company Solarina d.o.o. The guarantee will support the performance of the project under the Serbian contract for difference mechanism.

The winning bid for CfD is 52.89 euros per megawatt hour

The Solarina project participated in the second batch of renewable energy auctions in Serbia, with a winning capacity of 105 megawatts and a transaction price of only 52.89 euros per megawatt hour. Although this price is low, it is crucial for locking in long-term loans - the CfD mechanism provides continuous income security, making the project feasible for bank financing. CWP Europe has signed a power purchase agreement with the Serbian state-owned power company EPS, covering the entire project's electricity generation capacity. Keywords: photovoltaics, new energy projects, Serbia

CWP Europe is a leading renewable energy developer in Southeast Europe, with over 10 gigawatts of project reserves covering the fields of solar, wind, and battery energy storage. The company sets up an independent SPV for each new energy project to be responsible for implementation, and this Solarina project adopts this model.Editor/Cheng Liting
