On August 3, 2026, the groundbreaking ceremony of the Mozambique National Surgical Center project was held in Maputo city. My Ambassador to Mozambique, Zheng Xuan, and Mozambican President Chapo jointly attended the ceremony and delivered speeches, while Mozambican Health Minister Isse and others attended the ceremony.

Ambassador Zheng stated that the aid to Mozambique National Surgical Center project is a new milestone in China Mozambique medical and health cooperation, and another vivid witness to the profound friendship between the two peoples. China is willing to work together with Mozambique to promote the timely and high-quality completion of the surgical center under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, and make new contributions to enhancing practical cooperation in various fields between the two countries.

President Chappo expressed sincere gratitude to the Chinese government for assisting in the construction of the National Surgical Center. This project embodies the strategic consensus of the two heads of state and the traditional friendship between the two peoples. He believes that the construction of this project will inject strong impetus into the development of Mozambique's medical and health care industry.

The Mozambique National Surgical Center project is organized, implemented, and supervised by the International Economic Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce.
