At 10:30 am on August 5, 2026, at Guiyang International Land Port, the sound of sirens echoed through the yard, and the China Europe freight train loaded with Geely Automobile KD parts slowly departed. Ten days later, it will pass through Alashankou and directly reach Belarus. This is the 12th China Europe freight train departing from Guiyang in 2026, and it is also a vivid reflection of how inland Guizhou relies on land port logistics to connect its doorstep with the sea.

Four way channel weaving dense open network

The Guiyang International Land Port, which will officially open in August 2022, relies on the policy support of the New National Development Document No. 2 to build a four-way three-dimensional open channel system. The North China Europe freight train directly connects to the Eurasian continent, the West China Laos freight train deeply links to the ASEAN RCEP market, the South China Western Land Sea New Corridor connects to the mouth of the Beibu Gulf, and the East Guizhou Guangdong freight train seamlessly connects to the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area.

As of July 2026, the total number of inbound and outbound trains in the land port is 698, with a total of 43572 TEUs. The year-on-year growth of inbound and outbound goods is 107.72%, and the container throughput is 166.91%. The daily operation volume and yard utilization rate have both reached a new high since the opening of the port. At present, the China Europe freight train has achieved stable operation of 3 trains per month and is steadily moving towards the normalization goal of 4 trains per month. The land port has also built combined ports with seven coastal ports including Guangzhou Port and Shenzhen Port, reducing the overall customs clearance time by 50%, saving about 2000 yuan in port operation costs per container, and shortening logistics time by 3 to 5 days.

Activation and consolidation efficiency of district port linkage

The Guizhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone and Guiyang International Land Port are deeply linked, combined with the advantages of bonded policies and port services. The Guizhou International Freight Consolidation Center, which will be put into operation in September 2025, has completely broken the pain points of scattered supply and high logistics costs for Guizhou's foreign trade enterprises in the past. In the initial stage of operation, the center shipped only 50 vehicles per month. This year, relying on the integration of the district and port, the monthly shipping volume has risen to four to five hundred vehicles, serving more than 20 foreign trade enterprises from 13.

The center implements a centralized consolidation model within the factory warehouse direct loading area, where containers are directly transported to the enterprise warehouse for loading, with one-stop inspection and clearance. The overall logistics cost of 40 foot standard containers has decreased by 10%. We provide centralized consolidation and unified customs declaration services for scattered goods sources of small and micro enterprises, and open a cold chain direct loading mode for high efficiency agricultural products, significantly reducing the rate of cargo damage. From January to July this year, the consolidation center drove the import and export value of bonded business in the entire region to 1.728 billion yuan, achieving a return of 561 million yuan from Guizhou trade. From early specialty products such as tea guitars to high value-added industrial products such as automotive parts, tires, and televisions, the category of Guizhou goods going global continues to iterate and upgrade. With the smooth operation of the return China Europe freight train, Guizhou's opening-up to the outside world has shifted from one-way output to a new stage of two-way mutual assistance. Deep inland, Guizhou is leveraging the land port logistics system of regional port linkage to transform the once open terminal into an important international logistics hub in the southwest region, exploring a replicable practical path for high-level opening up of inland provinces.Editor/Cheng Liting
