On the construction site of the industrial park in Xinzhou, Wuhan, the pre construction fences have been gradually built. The project, with a total investment of 800 million yuan and an annual output of 50000 tons of high-performance sodium positive electrode materials, will officially start construction in August 2026. The investor of the project, Wuhan Qina New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., was established in Wuhan in September 2022, relying on the technology of Hu Pei's team from Hubei University of Technology to invest in the project. The core focus is on the poly anionic composite iron phosphate sodium NFPP route. This technological route has natural advantages in cycle life and structural stability, perfectly adapting to the core requirements of long-term energy storage scenarios.

In the first half of 2026, the number of bids for domestic sodium electric energy storage projects increased by 327% year-on-year. The positive electrode material of the polyanion route, with its long cycle characteristics, has won over 40% of the bids in energy storage scenarios, becoming the second mainstream sodium electric positive electrode technology route after layered oxides. Wuhan Qinna's thousand ton production line in Huanggang has achieved stable bulk supply, with downstream customers covering multiple leading energy storage system integrators.

Matching production capacity rhythm with industry window

Wuhan Qina has determined that the large-scale delivery window for sodium energy storage in the second half of 2026 has officially opened, and the long-term incremental space for NFPP polyanion cathodes is very clear. The construction period of the newly built 50000 ton project is only 10 months. By reusing mature lithium battery sintering technology, it can significantly reduce the difficulty of production line debugging and quickly achieve full production ramp up.

The current domestic sodium positive electrode industry is at a critical point of concentrated capacity release. The total production capacity of sodium positive electrodes in China is expected to exceed 800000 tons by 2026, and the cost of downstream energy storage systems is expected to decrease by 28% compared to the same period in 2025. The planning of the 10000 ton new production line for Wuhan Qinna is also being synchronously promoted, continuously promoting cost reduction of energy storage systems through the reuse of mature lithium battery manufacturing systems, and adapting to the upcoming large-scale delivery needs of the industry.
