The Aswan Photovoltaic Park in Egypt, North Africa, welcomes a heavyweight new energy project, and the dormant land of the park is under construction. The largest independent energy storage power station in Africa is steadily advancing its main construction, and the Chinese team is efficiently promoting the project construction, using mature energy storage technology to assist Egypt's energy transformation and injecting strong Chinese strength into the development of Africa's new energy industry.

The project has a huge scale

On August 3, 2026, the Neferti Energy Storage Power Station in Egypt completed the first batch of 12 battery cell compartment foundation pouring, and the project officially entered the main construction phase. The project is located in the Aswan Benban Photovoltaic Park in Egypt, with a construction scale of 500MW/1050MWh and a total investment of 450 million US dollars, approximately 3.035 billion yuan. The project registration scale is 500MW/1000MWh, and the minimum available capacity for project delivery has been increased to 500MW/1050MWh. A total of 60 battery unit modules are planned and arranged throughout the site. The project adopts BOO operation mode, signs a 20-year capacity procurement agreement, and receives financing support from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. It is expected to be commercially connected to the grid in the second quarter of 2027.

Deeply cultivating the African market

The project is invested and developed by AMEA Power in the United Arab Emirates, with CEEC undertaking the EPC general contracting and Guoxuan High Tech providing energy storage equipment for cooperation. The project was awarded the bid on February 25, 2026, officially signed on June 4, and started civil construction on June 21. Keywords: Egyptian energy storage power station, CEEC overseas new energy

The local Abidus Phase II solar energy storage project previously undertaken by the Chinese side has achieved full capacity grid connection of 600MWh energy storage, and the two major projects have been implemented, fully demonstrating the overseas hard core strength of China's energy storage engineering. The complementary integration of independent energy storage and photovoltaic energy storage projects will significantly enhance the peak shaving capacity and new energy consumption level of Egypt's power grid, and fully promote the implementation of Egypt's 2030 sustainable energy strategy.Editor/Min Jing
