Turkmenistan's National Natural Gas Konzern and Afghanistan's National Gas Company signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the natural gas field on Monday of this week. According to official media in Turkmenistan, the document marks a new chapter in natural gas cooperation between the two countries. According to the memorandum, both parties agree to cooperate in the construction of relevant infrastructure in Herat Province, supplying natural gas from Turkmenistan to local industrial enterprises, power plants, and residents.

The signing ceremony was held during the working visit of Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, the national leader and chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, to Afghanistan. During the visit, both sides also discussed the progress of the construction of the Turkmenistan Afghanistan Pakistan India (ATAPI) natural gas pipeline project, as well as the utilization prospects of international transportation channels such as the Lapis lazuli corridor. In addition, the meeting emphasized the important role of the Turkmenbashi International Port in unleashing the potential of regional transportation and logistics.Editor/Yang Meiling
