The Abu Dhabi Dubai High Speed Rail is part of the Etihad Railway National Passenger Expansion Plan, with a total network length of 900 kilometers and a total investment of 13 billion US dollars. The investment in the main line of the 150 kilometer twin city high-speed railway is about 8 billion US dollars, and the relevant design and construction contracts will be signed in February 2025.

The maximum design speed of the train is 350 kilometers per hour, and the regular operating speed is 320 kilometers per hour. The project is expected to be put into operation from 2030 to 2031. The Abu Dhabi section is led by local NPC enterprises, with cooperation units including Troy Tunnel Company and China State Construction Engineering Corporation. The overall design work is entrusted to Jacobs Solutions. The leading party for the Dubai section is Larson Tobro from India, and the cooperative team includes China Harbour Engineering Co., Ltd., local Wade Adams, Egis from France, and Surplus Group from Singapore. Two Chinese state-owned enterprises have respectively settled in two core sections to export mature rail transit construction technologies. The 97 kilometer route under construction starts from Al Zahia and ends at Al Jadaf in Dubai.
