On the vast Gobi Desert in Ma'an Province, southern Jordan, wind turbine blades keep rotating, turning the desert resources into a continuous source of clean electricity. The Shubak wind power plant operated by Chinese enterprises is rooted here, relying on mature technology and deeply participating in Jordan's national energy transformation process.

Desert wind power landing

The Shubak Wind Power Station completed its acquisition and operation in 2021, with an installed capacity of 44.5 megawatts and an annual output of 145 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity. Jordan's electricity has long relied on imported natural gas, and currently new energy accounts for 27% of the country's electricity generation, with plans to increase it to 40% by 2035. This wind power plant is an important carrier for the local green transformation, and China's wind power technology ensures the long-term stable operation of equipment.

Layout Landscape Matrix

Three Gorges Asia Africa Company has operated 7 new energy power stations in Jordan, including 2 wind power stations and 5 photovoltaic power stations, with a total installed capacity accounting for approximately 14% of Jordan's total new energy installed capacity. The power station spans approximately 436 kilometers from north to south, generating 530 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually. It can supply electricity to 175000 households, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 300000 tons annually and saving 850000 tons of water. The company is still pushing for the delivery of three new power stations, and the future installed capacity is expected to reach a quarter of the national total. Dual directional integrated development

The project drives the growth of local personnel, and the employees of Yuezhong learn from each other in their work, and cultural exchanges bring them closer together. Enterprises are simultaneously involved in the construction of surrounding communities, carrying out public welfare assistance such as education and medical care, and benefiting ordinary people with project dividends. China Jordan energy cooperation is not just a short-term commercial project, but also a long-term strategic cultivation of mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.Editor/Min Jing
