A team bid farewell to the city lights, plunged into the mountains and valleys of Songyang, and built a green power bank in the wilderness, making the silent mountains the energy storage heart of East China Power Grid. Now, the filling of the main and auxiliary dams of the Shangshui Reservoir has been completed, and the excavation of the water diversion shaft has been successfully completed. The project has fully entered the stage of panel pouring and water storage preparation. More than two hundred days and nights of hard work resulted in the timely completion of the key nodes for dam filling.

Peak shaving and valley filling stabilize the lifeline of the power grid
The installed capacity of wind and solar power in East China continues to expand, but wind and solar power rely on the weather to make a living, resulting in significant fluctuations in power generation; The difference in peak and valley electricity consumption between day and night in cities has widened, with both peak power shortages and valley power outages coexisting. Traditional thermal power plants have slow regulation and high carbon emissions, making it difficult to adapt to new power systems. Pumped storage can be used for low valley pumped storage and high peak water discharge for power generation. The load can be adjusted in both directions in just a few minutes, with zero carbon emissions throughout the entire process. The Songyang pumped storage main dam is 85.5 meters high and filled with 2.19 million cubic meters of stone materials. It uses physical engineering as a large-scale grid connected stabilizer for new energy, safeguarding the transformation of green energy in southwestern Zhejiang.

Intelligent construction breakthrough breaks industry record
The mountainous area of Songyang has complex terrain and variable climate. The project department has launched the Beidou intelligent compaction monitoring system to monitor the compaction speed, thickness, and trajectory in real time. If it exceeds the standard, an early warning will be issued, bidding farewell to experiential construction and achieving full process digital intelligence closed-loop control, with zero defects in dam filling. The underground shafts have also achieved remarkable results. The first domestically produced ultra deep shaft boring machine, Tiangong, has been put into practical use for the first time, and the No. 2 water diversion shaft has been accurately connected. Over 220 days of continuous operation, with zero safety accidents and zero quality defects, setting a new industry record with an average daily footage of 8.58 meters and a monthly excavation of 278.28 meters, filling the gap in full section excavation technology for ultra deep vertical shafts in China.
