The overseas layout of domestic energy storage enterprises has achieved an important breakthrough. The investment structure of the 400 million euro Spanish energy storage manufacturing project of Haichen Energy Storage has officially landed, marking substantial progress in the localization layout of the enterprise in Europe and providing an important demonstration for domestic energy storage enterprises to transform overseas.

Multi layer cross-border architecture implementation

According to the information released by the Xiamen Development and Reform Commission, Haichen Energy Storage adopts a compliant cross-border architecture to promote overseas layout. It builds a special purpose platform through its Hong Kong subsidiary, establishes a wholly-owned entity in Spain, and then jointly establishes an operating company with local institutions. The project was officially announced in March 2026, and in April of the same year, under the witness of China and the West, Haichen Energy Storage signed an investment intention memorandum with the Spanish public development agency Sodena.

In terms of equity, Haichen Energy Storage holds an absolute controlling stake of 66.7%, while local state-owned assets hold 33.3%. This cooperation model not only ensures the independent operation of enterprises, but also binds local government resources, conforms to European industrial rules, and effectively reduces the obstacles to project implementation.

The project has complete supporting facilities and sufficient benefits

The total investment for the first phase of the project is 400 million euros, equivalent to 3.14232 billion yuan. Among them, Haichen Energy Storage has paid in 100 million euros, equivalent to 785.7 million yuan, with the highest foreign investment of 50 million euros. The remaining construction funds will be solved through bank loans and EU industrial funds.

The project plans to construct a lithium iron phosphate energy storage battery cell and energy storage system production line, which will be built in two phases and is expected to be put into operation by the end of 2027. After the completion of the project, it can provide up to 1050 local employment positions, with 700 positions in the first phase. At the same time, public financial subsidies up to 20% of the investment can be applied for, with a maximum limit of about 80 million euros.

The industry's overseas model welcomes transformation

The current EU battery regulations, foreign investment reviews, and tariff barriers continue to tighten, exacerbating the risks of traditional export models.
