On the banks of the blue sea, the steel giant beast quietly awakens. At the equipment manufacturing base in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, builders are using millimeter level precision to lift and accurately embed offshore oil and gas heart modules weighing over 2000 tons. This Asia's largest offshore crude oil processing platform is about to stand on the steel backbone of China National Offshore Oil Corporation in Deep Blue.

Precise positioning of giant modules

On August 22, 2026, at the Zhuhai Deepwater Equipment Manufacturing Base of CNOOC Engineering, 2174 tons of large modules were smoothly installed and lowered. The upper module of the Huizhou 25-4 oilfield comprehensive adjustment and Huizhou 19-6 oilfield 5d well area development project was capped, marking a critical milestone in the onshore construction of Asia's largest offshore crude oil processing platform.

The super large platform scale is eye-catching

The newly built platform for Huizhou 19-6 project is a three-layer eight legged crude oil processing platform. The upper module is about 85 meters high, close to a 30 story residential building, with a projected area equivalent to 13 standard basketball courts. The floating design weight is about 29000 tons, making it the largest offshore crude oil processing platform in Asia. This platform will serve the development of the Huizhou 19-6 oilfield in China, which is composed of billions of tons of deep-sea and ultra deep clastic rocks. The three-layer electrical room module lifted this time weighs 2174 tons, which is the largest tonnage and most difficult construction core module since the production of the Zhuhai base.

Overcoming construction difficulties

There are many construction difficulties: crowded component layout, limited installation space, and easy occurrence of structural interference; The total amount of welds is large, and the welding heat can easily cause the component to twist and bend; Multi disciplinary cross construction can easily lead to conflicts between processes; The module has a large volume, and the risk of multi crane collaborative lifting is prominent.

The project team will review the drawings in advance, discuss special processes, adjust the installation sequence to avoid component interference; Use symmetrical segmented welding with anti deformation fixtures to monitor and correct dimensional deviations throughout the entire process; Refine the construction plan and promote multi-disciplinary operations through staggered zoning; Review the plan multiple times before lifting and identify various safety risks. Relying on the collaborative operation of three crawler cranes with a capacity of 3600 tons, 1600 tons, and 800 tons, the module achieves precise positioning. After the project started, modular and integrated construction was implemented, and innovative multi zone deck integral lifting technology was developed, compressing the original 30 deck lifting operations into 10, with an integrated construction rate of over 90%.
