On August 24, 2026, the second 5000 ton intelligent demonstration ship of Pinglu Canal, Beigang Canal 001, entered the Yujiang section and began a nearly 7-hour full subject test. The first application of vertical bow ship design in the Xijiang River Basin, combined with a full scenario intelligent navigation system, is laying a solid foundation for the intelligent shipping system after the official navigation of the Pinglu Canal.

Comprehensive upgrade of intelligent green performance

The Beigang Canal 001 is a dual-purpose ship with a total tonnage of 2983, a length of 89.9 meters, a width of 15.76 meters, and a depth of 6.10 meters. It is a demonstration ship specially built to adapt to the conditions of the Pinglu Canal channel. The ship has achieved synchronous landing of an intelligent engine room onboard data integration platform and intelligent energy efficiency management for the first time in the Xijiang River Basin. The intelligent navigation system carried can switch between three driving modes: automatic and non automatic, covering the operational needs of all navigation scenarios. The addition of anti-collision side cabin structure on the hull significantly enhances the anti sinking ability and further strengthens the safety redundancy of water transportation. The power end adopts LNG clean energy system, which can directly save millions of yuan in operating costs every year.

The integrated shipping system is gradually taking shape

This ship type is designed and manufactured in accordance with the technical standards of intelligent integration platform, intelligent engine room autonomous navigation, automatic berthing and berthing remote control, and can achieve integrated intelligent shipping scheduling of ships, ports, and locks in the Pinglu Canal. The key innovation in ship resistance performance is the first application of vertical bow technology in the Xijiang River Basin, further reducing navigation energy consumption.

The first demonstration ship of the same class, Beigang Canal 002, completed its maiden voyage on June 18th. The synchronous testing of the two demonstration ships is progressing, and complete test data is being accumulated for the large-scale intelligent ship operation after the Pinglu Canal officially opens in September.
