In 2026, the commercialization pace of domestic grid side energy storage will continue to accelerate. Listed company Chenfeng Technology officially announced another regional key project in addition to the billion level energy storage layout, adding new increments to the construction of peak shaving and frequency regulation energy storage bases in Northeast China Grid. The implementation of this project also marks a rapid shift in investment in the domestic energy storage industry towards the Northeast region.

700 million yuan energy storage project landing
Chenfeng Technology disclosed on August 28th that it plans to invest in a large-scale energy storage project in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, with a total investment of 700 million yuan. The company is expected to contribute 595 million yuan and will be fully responsible for implementation by its controlling subsidiary, North Grid New Energy Shenyang Energy Company. The total installed capacity of the project reaches 200MW/760MWh, with an overall construction period of about 12 months. The estimated long-term investment return rate can reach 7.49%.
The project adopts a composite function design of peak shaving and frequency regulation. The 180MW/720MWh 4-hour peak shaving energy storage system consists of 36 5MW/20MWh standard units, and the 20MW/40MWh 2-hour frequency regulation energy storage system consists of 4 5MW/10MWh units, which can simultaneously meet the dual requirements of daytime peak shaving and real-time frequency regulation on the grid side. Based on the latest data from the Northeast Power Grid in 2026, the total scale of publicly announced shared energy storage projects in the region has increased by 112% year-on-year. As a core load node in Northeast China, Shenyang's implementation density of energy storage projects is continuously increasing.
Clear grid access system
After the energy storage system of the project is converted by PCS, it is locally stepped up through a 35kV step-up transformer, and connected to the newly built 220kV substation 35kV busbar side through 10 35kV collection lines. One 220kV substation is synchronously constructed in the station. The final project will be connected to Shunyang Substation through a 220kV transmission line, and the specific connection plan will be subject to the official approval of the subsequent power grid.

This standardized energy storage power station access architecture is fully compatible with the current dispatch system of the Northeast Power Grid. After the project is put into operation, it can directly participate in the grid peak shaving auxiliary service market and stably obtain dual benefits of peak shaving and frequency regulation.
