Recently, Mahmoud Esmat, the Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy of Egypt, held talks with Hou Wei, the CEO of the Egypt region, and the management team, focusing on discussing two major projects: a 4GWh independent energy storage power station and local energy storage manufacturing, to deepen cooperation in the energy sector.

Focus on transformation and expand cooperation

This meeting aligns with Egypt's energy transition strategy. Egypt continues to expand its installed capacity of wind and solar new energy, accelerate the construction of energy storage facilities, and enhance the stability of the power grid and the ability to absorb new energy. The two sides also reached a cooperation intention on energy infrastructure such as smart grid, power digitization, data center, and power grid communication optimization.

Plan projects to optimize the power grid

According to the Egyptian Ministry of Electricity and local media, the 4GWh energy storage project is located at a key node of the power grid and will adopt Huawei's energy storage technology solution. The site selection technology and economic feasibility evaluation have been completed, and the preliminary work such as local factories and regulatory standards has been carried out in an orderly manner. After the completion of the project, it can stabilize the peak and valley loads of the power grid, resolve the problem of fluctuations in new energy generation, improve the utilization rate of clean energy, ensure stable power supply, and enhance the reliability of power grid operation.

Innovative models deeply cultivate the local market

The highlight of the cooperation lies in the adoption of Egyptian pound pricing, which is an important attempt for the localization of Egypt's energy storage industry and trade. Both sides are promoting local production of energy storage batteries and using Huawei technology to fill the gaps in the local energy storage industry chain.
